Lets start with the against the odds plan first: some players are hyped about using Rotpiest as a combo piece, trying to storm off and target it a bunch of times with something like Ground Rift to poison the opponent out of the game
So, we're discarding, they're discarding, we're recovering from discarding and they're hopefully not
The deck also gets access to Field of Ruin, which is nice compared to Tectonic Edge or Ghost Quarter, since using it doesnt actually slow you down as you climb to seven mana
For example, Wydwen, the Biting Gale is the 590th most popular Commander in the game, which means that not only did the Sultai Mutate deck get the short end of the stick in terms of the number of reprinted Commanders, but the one it did get was pretty lackluster (although Wydwen, the Biting Gale is cute with mutate, allowing you to pick up your entire mutate pile to save several creatures from removal)
They haven't, and I think they appreciate that we're all in this together
At the very least, this + Teleportation Circle handles opposing commanders pretty well
